My Valentine

The other day, when my husband asked me if I were not going to make a card with a couple's silhouette, I just smiled because I already had that in mind. It's his favorite card style. So here is the Valentine's Day card I made for my husband. I hope you like it. He sure did.

For this card you will need 2 die-cuts: one of the silhouette of a couple, and one of a park pole with lamp as shown below.

You will also need a white cardstock paper to make the card, and a medium dark blue piece of cardstock 1/2-inch smaller than the white paper.

Use tree stamps and black ink for the trees. Just press the stamp on the ink pad once for the first tree; you want the other two or three to have the "fading" look to give the card a dimension.

Look how the tree in the middle looks behind the other trees.

Use a white pen to make stars on the blue paper, then spray adhesive to it. Notice that I have a white sheet of paper under the blue cardstock. That is NOT the card. I was protecting my desk from the adhesive.

Now you can adhere the pole and the couple die-cuts to the blue cardstock

The blue paper will be very sticky because of the spray adhesive, which is good because you are going to sprinkle it with fine glitter.

Remove the excess glitter by tapping gently on the back of the paper. Let it dry and paste the paper on the card.

Draw grass at the bottom of the blue paper with a black fine point pen.

I chose pine trees and drew snow on the branches with the white pen because it is winter, but you don't have to do that if you choose to romance your loved one at some other time of the year. That's right, make this card and give to the love of your life with a candy bar or something else JUST BECAUSE and keep romancing your marriage!

Birthday

Today is my birthday and my husband and our son made sure to make it very special. God decided to really bless me when He put those two in my life, first my husband and then our son. I am SO thankful. Inspired by them, I decided to make a birthday card. 

 The pictures that follow will show the material and directions you need to make this card.

Light blue cardstock to make card

White cardstock  1/2-inch shorter than the blue paper

Red cardstock with white polka dots 0.1-inch shorter than the white one.

A strip 1.5-inch wide from the light blue paper, and a white lace.

Add caption

A 2"x 3" piece of the light blue cardstock with a white border on the right side.

A 1 1/2 x 2 1/2-inch piece of the white cardstock

Stamp on the white piece of paper and decorated it. Leave some room above the stamp for a number.

Adhere everything as shown

Paste everything to the card. Add a strip of white paper for sentiment and a red button with red thread in the middle to look like it has been sown to the card.

 If you want to use this card for some other occasion, it is ok. Go ahead. What matters to me is that you have a good time making it.

Black and White

On February fourteenth some couples will be celebrating not only Valentine's Day, but also their wedding anniversary. So I decided do make a card that can be used for both occasions. 

 You can always change the red ribbon and bow for a white or pearl color, change the sentiment phrase and make a wedding card instead.

Make a white card

 

Cut a black piece of black cardstock 1/2-inch smaller than the card on each side. Cut the bottom border of in scallops.

Emboss a white piece of cardstock

Die-cut two hearts from the embossed paper, one from a piece of the black cardstock, and one from a black glittered cardstock.

Punch three 1/8-inch circles from the black glittered cardstock.

Cut a piece of white cardstock 0.2-inch smaller than the black cardstock. Adhere a red ribbon to it, then adhere both to the black cardstock. Glue a bow on the ribbon.

Paste everything on the card

Die-cut two scalloped hearts: one black and one white. Paste the hearts as shown. Make a bow-tie and a strip from the white cardstock. Glue them to the black heart like in the picture. Glue embellishment pearls to the embossed heart. Adhere the 1/8-inch glittered circles to the white strip on the black heart.

For the detail inside use the glittered heart, the second embossed heart, and two more glittered circles.

I think this is my husband's favorite Valentine's Day card so far. I hope you like it too because you sill have time to make one for your Valentine.

Gift Box

Whether we obey the three-day rule or not, we all know that sending a thank you note to someone who gave us a gift is the right thing to do. But why stop there? Sure we can make a cute card, but why not do something different? Why not thank someone for a gift with another gift? Nothing major, but something that will say, " I really appreciate your thoughtfulness". Like a few cookies, or a couple of candy bars. Stretch that idea a little bit and make the box for the gift too. 
With that in mind, I decided to post the directions to make a gift box. I made a small one as an example, but you can make it in any size. Let's do it? 

 The material and the instructions you will need are in the pictures below.

A square piece of paper with the pattern of your choice

Turn the paper with white side up and draw a line from one corner to the other on both sides

Fold the corners toward the center

Make sure the four corners are folded as shown

Fold one side like this

Then the other side. Press firmly to mark the paper.

Open the folded sides, turn your square and fold the other two sides

 Cut the paper just where shown with precision scissors.

Repeat the procedure, and do it on the opposite side too.

When open, it will look like this on both sides.

Glue the corners of the sides that were not cut on the inside bottom of your box

Fold the cut sides as shown.

Glue the open sides over the ones folded like this.

This is how the bottom of your box should look like.

Cut another square piece of paper of the same pattern 0.2-inch bigger than the first one and repeat the entire process.

Now you have a lid for your box.

I didn't close the lid all the way to show how they fit perfectly.

Now it is closed all the way and decorated. The tag is handmade too of course.

Now I can put a few kisses and a little note in this one, and give it to my husband after Valentine's Day, or my birthday.
