Spring Baby Shower Invitation

It's a beautiful spring day today. Days like this remind me that God, in his amazing wisdom and creativity, made each season with its unique characteristics. But, in turn, they compliment each other. For instance, after winter's long sleep, nature wakes up with spring bringing all the beauty of new life. Flowers bloom, baby animals are born or hatched, the grass is dressed in beautiful green again, and the birds sing praises to their Creator.  A dear friend of mine has also a new life in her: a baby boy to be born in June. So here is a spring baby shower invitation inspired by God's amazing idea of new life.

Supplies used
Paper: White card, brown, baby blue and white cardstock.
Tools: Cutting/ embossing machine, top note dies (Nestabilities), Swiss polka-dot embossing folder, computer and printer
Embellishments: blue gemstones, plaid baby blue and white ribbon, 3D ducky sticker.

The same God, who created this gorgeous and colorful nature, made you in a very special way, and gave you creativity and talents. So, enjoy God's creation. Go walk in a park, get inspired, and then make something beautiful too.

Thank you for stopping by.

Birthday Card - Leopard + tip

Not everyone looks good wearing animal print, but I have two friends who know how to wear their leopard print very well. It was inspired by them that I made the card I'm posting today. Here it is.

Supplies used:
Paper: White card, black, white and leopard print card stock
Tools: Cutting/ embossing machine (Sizzix), polka-dot embossing folder (Darice), label and oval dies (Sizzix), computer and printer.
Embellishments: orange gemstones, gold ribbon, vintage brad

Do you know someone who likes animal prints? Make them a card like this one. It will make a good Mother's Day card too. Just change the sentiment phrase.

Tip of the day: Do you wear make up? Feeling like you need some help in that area? One of the two friends I mentioned on the top of this post has a blog with amazing tips about that subject, and she really knows what she's talking about. You can check her blog by clicking here.

Thank you so much for stopping by. Happy crafting and God bless you.

Masculine Card with Tips

Today I'm posting a birthday card that I made for a dear friend of ours. If you want a masculine card, this is it. (wink and smile).

 Supplies used
Paper: White and aqua card stock, plaid wrapping paper
Tools: Cutting/ embossing machine, scalloped and plain oval dies, computer, printer, bone folder, eyelet settler, 1/4" circle foam mounting
Embellishments: Burlap ribbon, twine, buttons, buck sticker, eyelets, sentiment phrase
 Tips
My tips for you today are:
1. Use different material on your card. On this one I used wrapping paper on the bottom,  and a bone folder to score the aqua card stock giving the impression of embossing.
2. Change the sentiment phrase and turn this card into a Father's Day card.
Thank you for stopping by. May God pour His blessing unto you.

Baby Card with Crochet 2

It seems that my first baby shower card with a crochet carriage has been a big hit. So today I'm posting a second card with a crochet embellishment. You also get a free pattern and a bonus idea. Here it is.

Supplies needed for the card
Paper: White card stock, black with polka dots scrapbook paper
Tools: Embossing machine, 'Celebrate' embossing folder
Embellishments: white lace with pearls, crochet bib, baby sticker, piece of white crochet cotton thread, white bow, and self adhesive pearls.
 Bib Pattern
Material
Crochet cotton white tread #3
Hook: 1.40mm
Abbreviations
Ch = chain
SK = skip
SC = single crochet
DC = double crochet
TR = treble crochet
SL ST = slip st
TOG =

Ch 17
Row 1: sk 1ch, sc2, dc 2, dc 2tog in each of the next 8 ch (16), dc2, sc 2, ch1 and turn
Row 2: sc 2, dc 2, tr 2tog in each of the next 16 st, dc 2, sc 2, ch 3, and turn
Row 3: sk 1st, sl st ch, ch 3, sk 1st, sl st ch, ch 3, sk 1st, sl st ch - repeat pattern through the row. Sl st, fasten off. Leave a "tail" to sew to the beginning of bib forming the inside part. Glue or sew small bow.
Bonus Idea
I used green yearn for this one, so I skipped the second row.
For the 3rd row I did:
In same stitch and using a different color
DC 2, ch 2, sl st in first ch, DC 1. Repeat throughout this row, and end the same way shown in the pattern for the white bib.
Glue a piece of magnet tape in the back of the miniature bib for a refrigerator magnet.
You can also glue a small tag with the name of the baby and the date he/she was born before you glue the bow, and give these bibs as party favors at a baby shower.

Thank you for stopping by. May God bless you abundantly.

Brazilian Bonbons (Brigadeiros)

Our Sunday School class was chosen to bring dessert to the church picnic. Of course we'll have to bring something easy for everybody to eat. Nothing too messy or that needs silverware. So I will make Brigadeiros. They are a Brazilian specialty that can be found at every birthday party. We, Brazilians, even have a saying, "It is not a birthday party if there are no brigadeiros." The thing is that some of my American friends would like to know how to make these delicious bonbons. Therefore, I'm posting the recipe here.

Another version is to make brigadeiro and cover strawberries or cherries with it.
Enjoy

Thank you for stopping by. God bless you.
